William (Bill) Morton Roosevelt, III (Rosy), 75, of Lester, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 26th, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Marsha, children Wendy(Len), Erin(Brittany), John(Dayna), Marie(Paul), Aimee(Jon), Michael, and BIlly, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Florence, Jimmy(Nadine), Elva and Bobby(Bernice) and countless loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents William and Florence Roosevelt.
Bill was a graduate of Ridley Park High School, class of 1965, where he was a notable member of both the football and track and field teams.
Bill was a member of ILA 1242, where he worked as a clerk on the Philadelphia waterfront for 50 years before retirement. He worked part time for 30 years as a relief captain for Huber’s launch in Marcus Hook. He was also an assistant Boy Scout leader for Troop 37 of Essington.
For the past 27 years he was a proud member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was a three time past master of St. Alban’s Lodge 529. He was also a member of Penn Lodge 709, Tall Cedars-Penn Forest, Nur Temple and Temple Melita.
Possessing a larger than life personality, all who knew Bill remember him for his sense of humor, stories, the memories he helped create, his dedication to the Freemasons, but most of all his love of, pride in, and time spent with family. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, the beach and playing softball.
Bill’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, September 1st, 2022 at Griffith Funeral Chapel, Inc, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074, with Visitation from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00pm.
There will be an additional Visitation on Friday September 2nd, 2022 from 10:00-11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11am. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery in Upper Darby, Pa.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crozer Hospice or Team Fox for Parkinson’s Research.
