Wanda Joyce Eddy Fairman, 86, of Glen Mills, PA, died peacefully Sunday, December 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 17, 1936 in Philadelphia PA, Wanda was the only daughter of the late Alfred Byron and Fanny (Fisher) Eddy. She lived in Norwood and Chester, PA during her childhood, graduating from Chester High School in 1954.
After marrying Bill Fairman in 1960, they lived and raised their family in Prospect Park, PA. Wanda was a fixture at all her children’s activities and sporting events. Her home was always open to neighbors and friends who appreciated her fun-loving spirit.
Wanda volunteered with many community organizations in her much-loved small town, serving as the director of the Prospect Park Independence Day Parade for over 20 years and as a volunteer for the Prospect Park Free Library. She was named Prospect Park Citizen of the Year in 2004. Wanda was employed by PNB Bank and later Wells Fargo Bank as a bank teller and assistant manager.
Wanda was a woman of strong faith. She was a devoted member of the Prospect Park United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and Youth Group Leader before joining the Norwood United Methodist Church where she remained an active member until moving to the Maris Grove retirement community.
Wanda was a proud grandmother who was happy to celebrate her grandchildren’s achievements. She was also blessed to have maintained a close-knit group of lifelong friends, many of whom she had known since first grade. She loved watching the Olympic Games, especially figure skating, traveling to many regional and national competitions with her daughter and friends.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents and husband William “Bill” Fairman of Prospect Park, PA with whom she shared 51 years of marriage; her brothers Alfred Eddy of Akron, OH; Robert Eddy of Pocono Lake, PA; and William Eddy of Prospect Park, PA.
She will be sadly missed by her sons David (Patricia) of Rutledge, PA and Larry (Christine) of Jacksonville, FL; her daughter Susan (James) Gargel of Newark, DE; and grandchildren Emily Gray (John Gunnell) of Maynard, MA; and Gentian and Gunnar Fairman, also of Jacksonville, FL.
