Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has passed onto heaven to join his many family and friends who predeceased him. After a long and enjoyable life of 89 years, Steve passed away peacefully April 19, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty; 3 daughters- Sharon (Bill) Parry, Darlene (Lou) Annas, Linda (Jim) Mullen; 10 grandchildren- Joe Zielke, David Zielke, Kelly Flasinski, Krista Mullen, Jenna Bacinelli, Lou Annas, Stephen Annas, Jimmy Mullen, Christopher Mullen and Kenny Mullen; and 17 ½ great grandchildren- Tyler, Bryan, Brandon, Ryan, Austyn, Lucas, Nolan, Aidan, Raelyn, Christian, Logan, Alanna, Jackson, Emily, Ethan, Grace, Charlotte and Baby Annas due 7/2023.And we cannot forget his most recent doggie love- Molly who provided him with lots of kisses and loving. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Edith Farrell and his six sisters- Ida Mae Milhouse, Margaret Knight, Bernice Samsel, Doris Moulder, Edith Carpenter and Jean McFadden.
Steve graduated from St. James Catholic High School, Chester, PA in 1951 and Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, Philadelphia, PA in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army 1957-1959 and was stationed in Germany. He is retired from Dupont where he was a pipe fitter.
Steve was a referee and umpire for Little League. He also held many positions at the Church of the Redeemer, Springfield, PA including head usher, vestry member, leader of Men’s Club, and leader of Building, Grounds and Maintenance. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan as well as employed by each club after his retirement. He enjoyed spending free time attending his grandchildren’s and most recently great grandchildren’s sports and events. He was an active RAMP member for his daughters in the Ridley Marching Band. Much time was spent at The Cabin in the Pocono Mountains and also camping.
Steve’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Church of the Redeemer, 145 W. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA 19064. Family will be receiving friends and family 10-11am followed by service at 11am. Burial will follow the service at the church.
The family wishes to thank those special family and friends who spent time with Steve the past few weeks. Also thank you to the many doctors, home care workers and hospice nurses who cared for Steve over the years and most recently.
