Melody L. Ticknor

March 30, 1955 – January 21, 2022

Obituary

Melody died peacefully in King of Prussia, PA on January 21, 2022 surrounded by family and love after a long battle with frontotemporal dementia. She was two months shy of her 67th birthday and far too young. Melody was born on March 30, 1955 in Darby, PA and graduated from Interboro High School in Prospect Park in 1973. She went on to attend Saint Joseph’s University, graduating in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Melody loved her family and friends deeply. She was dedicated to her kids and cherished her role as a mom. She was the first one on the dance floor and her good spirit and laugh were infectious. Melody was also driven, organized, and caring, characteristics she put to use as a passionate volunteer for many causes including St. John’s Presbyterian Church, TEYSA, New Eagle Elementary School, T&E Cares, and Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort. Her friends remember her as a sought-after committee partner because she worked hard to get the job done and had fun along the way.

Melody is the daughter of the late Florence W. Ticknor and Edward C. Ticknor, and the sister of Edward C. Ticknor Jr., Robert J. Ticknor (Elizabeth), and Sherry J. Graff. Melody is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joseph F. Birmingham, daughter Kelly E. Inman (Justin), and son Kyle J. Birmingham (Jena Stenger). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Noah J. Inman (6) and Evelina M. Inman (4).

Contributions can be made in her name to two organizations:

1)      The AFTD, Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or

2)       The T&E Care Foundation

The family is holding a celebration of Melody’s life on May 7th, 2022 at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Devon, PA. All are welcome, and those attending are invited to wear green, Melody’s favorite color. The invitation can be viewed here.
