Margaret Lorraine Vough, 91,
Retired Business Manager from Nilon Brothers
Margaret Lorraine “Rain” Vough, 91, a lifelong resident of Norwood, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 28th, at Riddle Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, she remained a resident of Norwood her entire life, married to her high school sweetheart Richard Patterson “Dick” Vough who passed away in 2003, after 53 years of marriage. When not spending her time in Norwood, Lorraine could be found at her cabin hideaway in Harvey’s Lake, where she would vacation with family and friends every summer.
A 1950 graduate of Darby High School, Lorraine was active in the community. Succeeding her retirement from Nilon Brothers after a 45-year career, she then became a crossing guard for Norwood for 15 years. Every day, regardless of the weather, she could be found on her corner crossing school students and was always happy anytime anyone stopped by to see her, especially if you had a coffee for her!
One of Lorraine’s favorite places to spend time was at her beloved Olivet Presbyterian Church in Prospect Park. Here Lorraine was an active member of the church, where she served as an Elder. One of her favorite days was Wednesday afternoon, where she would attend Bible Study with her close friends and family of the Congregation. Later in life, she especially looked forward to her road trips with her nephew, James Zebley, where they would travel all around for special lunch dates and outings.
When she was not working or bringing the family together for holidays that she loved to organize, she could be found sitting on Sandy Beach or the front porch of her summer cabin at Harvey’s Lake. Every weekend she would take in whoever showed up, as long as they were willing to play at least two games of Scrabble with her and make a pot of coffee first thing in the morning!
There are no words for the amount of joy that Lorraine brought to all of her friends and family and anyone that she crossed paths with. Every viewpoint she had towards life’s events was a positive one each and every day. She will be deeply missed by her immediate family and friends. Lorraine was a true anchor for her family and her impact and outlook will continue to influence those who were close to her for years to come.
Lorraine is survived by her loving daughters, Leslie Nilon of Middletown, Sandra (John) DeMarcantonio of Sharon Hill; her grandchildren David Proch, Katie (Matt) Capetola, Zachary (Maribeth) DeMarcantonio, and Alexandra (Nicholas) DeMarcantonio, 3 great-grandchildren, and the entire Zebley family who was a vital part of her family. Preceded in death by her daughter Margaret Patti Proch, brother James Stillman, sister Janet Zebley, and son-in-law’s The Honorable James Nilon, Jr. and John “Jay” Proch.
All services and viewings will be private between family.
