Obituary

Lois Ann Farrell, 78, of Media, Pa., formerly of Ridley Park, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024.

Lois was the daughter of William and Emma Farrell of Norwood, Pa. She was born in Philadelphia, attended Shaw Junior High, and graduated from Interboro High School in 1962 at the age of 16. She was the youngest graduate in her class, and, as the years went by, she made sure her dear friends were aware of that fact.

Her first job at the age of sixteen was with First Pennsylvania Bank in Philadelphia, where she again made lifelong friends. She went on to become a commercial insurance account executive and worked for E. Walter Helm, McCrea and Gallen, USI Midlantic, and First Niagara Risk Management. She was an active and involved member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction since 1976.

She had a passion for travel with her good friends, having been throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. She especially enjoyed her trips to Russia and Alaska. She enjoyed Philadelphia sports, the slots at casinos, and being with her family on the fishing docks in Avalon, N.J.

She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood.

She is survived by her sister, Judy Firkser (Robert), her nephews Stephen Firkser (June), Ryan Firkser (Kate), David Firkser (Rachel), and her niece Carolyn Campbell (Brian). She is also survived by eleven great nephews and nieces: Zoey, Nick, Ava, Emily, Finley, Hannah, Kylie, Caddie, Alex, Jackson and Elsie. Additionally, she is survived by six first cousins: Darlene McClellan, Joyce Million, Carol Ulrich, Jayne Dubernas, David Paschall and Diane Consalvi, and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa., and her Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Contributions can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074.

Lois will be missed by her family and dear friends.

There are too many memories for me to share only one. Lois and I have been friends since 1963. We met at First Pennsylvania Bank, 30th and Market Streets, and it was friendship at once. We laughed together, sometimes we were sad together. We traveled together and spent a few summers together in Margate. She was a part of my wedding and after shared many fun times with me and my husband Chip. I love her and will miss her very much.

My heart is broken upon learning of my dear friend’s sudden death. Only the week before I had visited her and as always on our visits, we reminisced about old times and loads of fun memories together. I met Lois in 1970 through a mutual friend at my work and hopefully now they are together. Goodbye my friend till we meet again.
