Janice Ann Newcomb McCullion, 89, of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, died on July 31, 2021.
Janice was born to the late Robert J. Newcomb and the late Caroline A. Kahler Newcomb, and raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia. She was a 1949 graduate of Olney High School. In 1954, she married the late Daniel William McCullion Sr. She and her husband spent the next 67 years in Prospect Park, where she raised three children and served her community.
Janice was a longtime borough clerk, having only retired in 2005 at the age of 74. She served on the borough’s Fourth of July committee for many years and and was active in politics for much of her life. She was also a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. She liked to spend her time doting on her three cats, Fluffy, Cat, and Boots; knitting; reading the Sunday Inquirer; and listening to KYW and NPR.
She was the beloved mother of the late Daniel Robert McCullion, Jr.
She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Linda Ann (McCullion) Simmons of Glen Mills, Pa. and Kelly Ann (McCullion) Quirk of Morton, Pa.; her two sons-in-law, William R. Simmons III and Joseph M. Quirk; her four grandchildren, Monica Lynne Simmons of Philadelphia, Pa., Matthew Daniel Simmons of Manhattan Beach, CA.; Jessica Ann Reed of Playa Del Rey, CA. and Brixton Joseph Quirk of Morton, Pa.; her neighbors and caregivers, Suzanne Cooney, Cheri Weindel, and Wayne Humphries of Prospect Park, Pa.; and the many neighbors and community members she touched over the years.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074.
There will be a visitation on Friday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pa.
