James “Jim” Smarowsky

James “Jim” Smarowsky passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and beloved dogs on October 16, 2023. Jim was born in Girardville PA on May 6th 1943 to Mary and James Smarowsky. Jim attended Collingdale High School and was known for his athletic ability in football and track & field and served his country by voluntarily enlisting in the United States Navy in May 1964. He spoke often of his time stationed in Iceland as the Disbursing Clerk of the USS Corrie. Jim is survived by his wife Helen, his children Heather (Matthew), Andrew (Austin), Jenn (Sean), three grandchildren, and his late son Jimmy. Jim is also survived by his brother Charles and family. Viewing will be held at St. Gabriel’s Parish Monday October 23rd at 10:00 am followed by Mass in his honor at 11:00am. Burial will be private.
