Helena M. Cribb, age 71, a long-time resident of Essington, quietly passed away at Taylor Hospice on Friday, October 22, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She grew up in Ridley Township, graduating from Ridley High School in 1969. She was the daughter of the late Francis C. and Anna Marie (Hoolahan) Haberl. She was also predeceased by her brother F. Thomas Haberl who passed away in 2020.
Helena enjoyed camping, doing crafts, bowling and going shopping, but her biggest passion was her family especially her grandson Nevan. She was very active in her community belonging to Friends of Lazaretto, Tinicum Senior Citizens and Tinicum Township Historical Society. She was a very devout Catholic, a member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and upon the church closing joined St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Norwood, Pa. Helena served in many roles within the church including Legion of Mary, teaching CCD classes, singing in the church choir and was also a Eucharist Minister. She was involved in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for more than 50 years upon her graduation from high school.
Helena is survived by Bill, her loving husband of more than 47 years, mother to Michael, Jon, Joe, William, Jr. and Annamarie and also Mom-Mom to Nevan. She was a loving sister to Anita (Steve) Walton and Kathy (Greg) Millichap and also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa. 19074, with Funeral Mass immediately following at 11 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Avenue, in Norwood, Pa. 19074.
Interment will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, Seventh Avenue and Girard Avenue, Milmont Park, Pa. 19033.
