Dorothy “Dot” Lewis died on Sunday, December 19th, 2021 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania
Dot was born on July 10, 1933 in Chester, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Reba Sharpless, and was a descendant of some of the first settlers of Delaware County. She definitely inherited their spirit and work ethic. One thing anyone knows about Dot is that she was a hard worker. She left her home at fifteen and had a busy, eventful life ever since, not the least of her adventures was her time as a singer in a band that performed with Rock Around the Clock’s Bill Haley. After that, she was a cook in countless well-known and loved restaurants in the region.
Dot had three children. First Cindy, then William, then Christine. These three had four children of their own. As of this date, there are five great-grandchildren of Dot’s roaming the country, from Georgia to Pennsylvania.
After her husband Robert, a metal worker in WAVE in Malvern retired, Dot spent many sun-soaked years in Bayshore Village in North Fort Myers, Florida, taking it easy, taking care of her “new babies” (dogs), and spending many great nights with her nephew Steven and his wife Mila.
She then moved back to Pennsylvania first living with Steven and Mila, then spending the last year in St. Martha’s Center, where she enjoyed the activities and wonderful staff. Dot’s family is thankful that they had the opportunity to have such a close relationship until the end. She will not be forgotten.
Her burial will be private.
