Margaret Rock Beckett, lovingly known to her family and friends as Marge, or Margie, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband on March 13, 2021. Margie was a loving wife, mother, sister, mom-mom, aunt and of course friend.
She was born on December 15, 1948 at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Penncrest High School. Margie was preceded in death by her parents Jean and Robert "Rocky" Rock. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Paul Beckett; her three sisters, Miriam "Mimi" Simeone married to Richard "Richie" Simeone, Barb Demos married to Roger Demos, and Jackie Edwards. Margie is also survived by her three daughters, Barbara "Terri" Graham, Margaret "Peggy" King, and Carol Pratt married to Dawn Pratt. Margie was also an adoring MomMom to Jackie Moore, Madelynn, Daniel, and Ian Zimmer, and was a loving aunt to four nephews.
Margie had a life-long career as a baker, and cake decorator, as well as everyone's favorite Avon lady. She loved spending time in the kitchen pouring her love into every creation. No holiday or birthday was ever complete without some sort of baked goods; cookies, candy, and especially the all-important birthday cake which more often than not was decorated in the presence of her loved ones and almost always contained more than one name. Along with baking, she loved flowers, plants, and being outdoors in her garden. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Margie was the eternal free spirit and beautiful flower child. Her favorite flowers were daisies, she also loved roses especially rose bushes that had been planted for her with love. She was always excited to share her beauty with those around her.
Margie was most happy and at home surrounded by and caring for those she loved; spending time together and doing things that made them happy. The many enjoyments in her life spent with loved ones included but were not limited to baking, playing games, enjoying a cup of coffee, singing, or dancing; it did not matter as long as you were together. She especially looked forward to unwinding in the evening by relaxing on the couch at the end of the day just enjoying the company of her husband, soulmate and friend.
Margie will be remembered by those who love her for her compassion for others, and her tremendous strength and determination. But mostly, she will be remembered for her unending supply of love. When you have a heart as big as hers, that can be matched only by the amount of love she carried in it; you know that that kind of love will never fade but live on in all of you.
Calling hours will be from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon on Saturday, March 20th, at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074. Due to Covid restrictions, the service will be limited to family and close friends. At 1:30 P.M. there will be a celebration of life with a bubble release at Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence. Bring your bubble wand and be ready to kick off your shoes and dance in the grass as we celebrate Margie with love in the way she lived, freely.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to your favorite charity.
